Our response is as follows:
We have just read the Equity announcement in their magazine about mental health services. We are glad to learn it will be a dedicated mental health phone line rather than an ESP, though we would still like to know who the provider is. Unless it is an industry specialist provider this phone line will be a duplication of services provided by organisations such as the Samaritans.
We stand by our concerns with the counselling on offer. We are also unclear how a help desk is an equivalent to having a dedicated team member addressing mental health legislation and practices around the industry.
This announcement raises a lot of questions and does little to address the concerns raised in our open letter.
It would now be useful for Equity to provide a more detailed response to the concerns we have raised.
